The small city of Pitt Meadows is located within southwestern British Columbia. Pitt Meadows was incorporated in the year 1914, and now currently has an estimated population of 17,500, covering 85.38 square kilometers. Pitt River is situated towards the west of Pitt Meadows, and links the Fraser river with Pitt Lake, which is the planet's biggest fresh water tidal lake. A delta has formed where Pitt River links to the lake because of it's backwards flow during high tide. As a result of its proximity to some rivers and it's low-lying ground, the city of Pitt Meadows is a flood plain town. A huge wildlife refuge is located within a peat bog in the northern sector of the flood plain. To the East of the city of Pitt Meadows is Maple Ridge and to the West, past Pitt River, is Port Coquitlam.

The communities of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge are considered the Lower Mainland's fastest growing communities. The rural setting is a great feature, while the city is still fairly close to a huge, urban metropolis. Pitt Meadows is well-known for its specialty crops of fruit, like for example blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, and strawberries. The Fraser River supports a commercial fishery and the forest products in the region are used as a major resource.

The majority of the lands within the city are residential, with upwards of 85 percent of the population commuting to work outside of the city of Pitt Meadows. Primary Education and Health Food and Beverage, Accommodation and Construction are the major employment sectors in the city.

A new shopping centre was recently developed on the border of Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. Various large companies now lease retail space at this site, like for example: Michaels, a Real Canadian Superstore, Telus, Jysk/Winners/Homesense, EB Games, Bell, a La Vie En Rose, Cineplex and Tim Hortons. Even with the recent additions of some commercial buildings, 86 percent of the landmass in the city of Pitt Meadows is situated in British Columbia's Agricultural Land Reserve.

Within the city of Pitt Meadows, there are many greenhouses that grow specialty peppers and cut flowers. Various vital agricultural products comprise cranberries and blueberries.

Maple Ridge, a peaceful pastoral town, is situated nearby on the North bank of the Fraser River. The history of Maple Ridge has been well preserved and the city of Pitt Meadows proudly showcases it's pioneer history and rich heritage of First Nations in the Maple Ridge Museum and Archives.

The city of Port Coquitlam is centered in the Lower Mainland Region and offers quality living with a terrific setting. It's convenient centre location gives it a small town charm while maintaining big city connections.
