Federal Way (population 89,306) is a city within Washington State. The city of Federal Way is bordered by Puget Sound on the west, by Tacoma and Fife on the south, by Des Moines on the north and by unincorporated King County, Milton and Kent on the east. Federal Way is 37 km south of Seattle City.

The city of Federal Way was just recently incorporated during 1990. It was an area and community which was mostly dependent upon logging. It was called "Federal Way" after Federal Highway U.S. 99, that was built through the area in order to connect Seattle and Everett with Tacoma. The city's Chamber of Commerce assumed the name in the early 1950s.

The largest softwood timber company in the globe, Weyerhaeuser, is located in the city of Federal Way. Weyerhaeuser has devoted a considerable amount of land to public use. Some of the land is currently botanical gardens: the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection and the Rhododendron Species Foundation and Botanical Garden. The U.S. head offices of World Vision are located in the city of Federal Way.

The city of Federal Way has many beautiful playgrounds and parks. An essential recreational landmark in the city of Federal Way is the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, that was used for the 1990 Goodwill Games. Celebration Park is another essential recreation facility, featuring sports fields and trails.

The city of Federal Way is the home of Wild Waves Theme Park, the biggest amusement park within the region. The theme park is on the south side of Federal Way and includes an Enchanted Village. The park was obtained in the year 2007 by Parc Management LLC of Jacksonville, Florida, for more than 30 million dollars.

Federal Way's characteristic semi-urban development features landscaped off-street shopping centers and multi-structure apartment complexes. Federal Way has only one indoor shopping center, Commons at Federal Way, located on S 320th St. and Pacific Hwy South near the city's main Interstate 5 exit. A recent multi-use development is United Properties' "Symphony" project. This major downtown redevelopment project consists of four 15-22 story towers consisting of 900 housing units, 5,600 m2 of retail and office space, and a large park. The development is constructed on the former AMC Theatres cinema property and is convenient to the transit center of the city.
