The city of Bryan has a population of 76,201 and is now the county seat of Brazos County. It is situated in the Brazos Valley and shares its southern border with College Station. Together, these two cities make up the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area, which contains approximately 190,000 people. This makes it the 16th biggest metropolitan area in the state of Texas.

The city of Bryan sits in the middle between three of the countries biggest cities. Dallas lies around 170 miles north, San Antonio is located approximately 166 miles southwest, and the closest Houston is situated about 92 miles south-southeast. The city of Austin, that is the state capital of Texas, is located 104 miles to the west. Roughly 75 percent of the populations of Texas and the state of Louisiana reside in 3.5 driving hours of the city of Bryan.

Initially the land belonged to Moses Austin as part of a Spanish land grant. It was his son, Stephen F. Austin, who first brought settlers to the area. Bryan was initially established during the year 1821 and was incorporated during 1871. The city started to increase in size quickly during the year 1860 the time the Houston and Texas Central Railroad was built.

The city of Bryan boasts lots of interesting attractions located nearby, like for instance: Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, Travis Park, Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley, Haswell Memorial Park, Carnegie Center of Brazos Valley History, and Bronco Stadium.

Bryan is littered with various recreational areas and parks. The Townshire Shopping Center and the Ridgecrest Shopping Center are two of the most famous shopping spots within Bryan.

The downtown center of Bryan has a unique collection of historic architecture, lots of vibrant locally-owned restaurants, and technology-based businesses. The area of Bryan has a rich history, helping to add the overall environment created by its numerous stunning old buildings. Assortments of diverse businesses are drawn to this region, including disaster recovery spaces for several Fortune 500 companies and several art and music places. Deep in the centre of the city lies a 24,000 square foot data centre. The numbers of creativity and technology businesses are slowly increasing.

The Bio-Corridor area is being developed along the intersection of Highway 60 and Highway 47. The Research Valley Partnership, who is responsible for the development, has a unique vision which incorporates a full-cycle approach to biotechnology while encompassing preclinical studies, research, manufacturing and clinical studies. Some of the buildings needed are already in place: The Texas A&M Institute for Genomic Medicine, the National Center for Therapeutic Manufacturing and Project GreenVax.
