Durham is a city in the U.S. state of North Carolina and among the three corners of the Research Triangle, a research park. Durham City serves as the county seat of Durham County. A smaller portion of the city falls within Wake County. With a population of about 228,300, Durham is the 5th-biggest city in North Carolina state. Two main universities are located there: Duke University and North Carolina Central University.

The research Triangle Park is the site of more than 130 businesses. Moreover, there are an additional twenty research, office and industrial parks that surround the Triangle.
