Jacksonville, North Carolina is situated within the county of Onslow. It is considered a part and serves as the county seat of the Jacksonville-North Carolina Metropolitan Area. The average age of Jacksonville inhabitants is 22.8, the youngest amongst any U.S. city. During the year 1757 the community was inhabited and in 1842 was officially incorporated as a town. Jacksonville derived its name from the seventh President of the US, Andrew Jackson.
