Off-Campus Living

Students who wish to live outside the campus should be aware that there are specific bylaws that were introduced by the City of Oshawa in 2008. The law requires that residential homes that are going to be used for rental purposes should be licensed first before it can operate. Make sure that the place you plan to live in is operating legally.

Oshawa Information

Oshawa is a city in Ontario, Canada, on the Lake Ontario shoreline. Oshawa's location provides convenient access to the surrounding country-side and the recreational opportunities afforded by Lake Ontario and the Kawartha and Haliburton tourist regions.

Oshawa offers the best of all worlds: beautiful parklands, hiking trails, bike trails and the Waterfront Trail along the shores of Lake Ontario. Swim, sail, windsurf - even charter a boat and test your fishing skills off the shores of Lake Ontario. Don't miss a trip to Windfields Farm, the birthplace of famous racehorse Northern Dancer. For those looking for a touch of culture, musical performances, live theatre, art shows, museums and special events such as Fiesta Week and the Waterfront Festival, abound.

The automobile industry, specifically the Canadian division of General Motors Corporation, known as General Motors Canada, has always been at the forefront of Oshawa's economy. Although the workforce at General Motors of Canada has shrunk in recent years, the company continues to make significant technology and capital investments at its sites in Oshawa. While the company's once essential role in the local economy has diminished, it remains the largest local employer.
