Portage College was established in 1968. It is a publicly funded community college that offers over forty certificate and diploma programs and has campuses or learning locations in the communities of: Boyle, Cold Lake, Frog Lake, Lac La Biche, Saddle Lake, St. Paul and Whitefish Lake. Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

The main campus is located in Lac La Biche, with regional campuses in Cold Lake and St. Paul. Smaller campuses can be found in Boyle, Frog Lake, Saddle Lake and Whitefish Lake.

Bookstore
The bookstore stocks stationery, textbooks, apparel, and merchandise. Items can be shipped personally or delivered to other campus locations for pick-up.

Hair Salon
The Portage Salon offers numerous services at great prices. We have a modern salon equipped with 28 hairstyling stations, three pedicure chairs, and four manicure stations. We also offer hairstyling services in a private cutting room. Our salon carries high-end hair care and colouring products and a selection of professional products for retail.

Library Services
Services are available to support and enhance the learning process by providing access to information resources and technical and research assistance in a friendly and inviting learning environment. There are currently three library branches: Our main branch is located in Lac La Biche but we also have branches in Cold Lake and St. Paul. All our library branches deliver services and resources to students and staff, including; computer workstations, physical and electronic resources, Interlibrary loans, study space and research and citation assistance.

Student Accommodation
Our onsite residences are located at the Lac La Biche and St. Paul campuses and cater to single students and students with families. Living on campus is more than just a convenient place to stay. Whether it's a student’s first time away from home, or a returning resident, living on campus provides a safe environment that promotes academic success and provides plenty of social, recreational, and educational learning opportunities.

The Voyageur Grill
The Grill provides a selection of breakfast sandwiches and lunch specials. Grab & Go meals are prepared by the Portage Market providing that satisfying home-cooked comfort.

Academic Advising
Experienced advisors help students make informed choices about programs and courses. They will help select the courses that work for each student’s educational plan.



Athletics
Our Voyageur athletes have competed in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) since 1991. We’re looking for student athletes who fit our culture and community and who strive for academic success while learning to become productive members of society. Through volunteerism, our athletes develop strong leadership and community engagement skills that benefit them well into the future.

Campus Security
Our security team is available 24/7 to help students in need. All security staff are certified in first aid and CPR and are trained to deal with safety and emergency situations. We take emergency preparedness seriously. That’s why we practice both shelter in place and evacuation procedures throughout the academic year. Students are encouraged to download the Portage Safety App to Easily access emergency plans and support resources, stay up to date on campus emergencies and explore some of the awesome features the app has to offer.

Counseling and Wellness
The counselling staff provide services for free from 8:15 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday to Friday. Help is available for personal and career counselling as well as mental health support and sexual violence support and prevention.

Museum
The Museum of Aboriginal Peoples’ Art & Artifacts collection contains over 2,000 Indigenous artworks and artifacts. Anyone can enjoy a self-guided tour or take a guided group tour with prior arrangements. The exhibits provide an in-depth look at Indigenous art from coast to coast and houses the only permanent collection in the world of the Professional Native Indian Artists Inc.: Daphne Odjig, Alex Janvier, Joseph Sánchez, Norval Morrisseau, Eddy Cobiness, Carl Ray and Jackson Beardy.

Rec & Student Life
The recreation department provides recreation and leisure opportunities that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. We offer a range of fun and engaging campus programs and events along with community-based activities. These activities are either free or offered at a reduced rate. Each of our campuses has unique programs, facilities, and access to Rec & Student Life activities.

Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries
We have many scholarships, awards and bursaries available. Our Awards Program not only recognizes student achievements but can also help with financial needs.

Student Learning Services
Student Learning Services (SLS) is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment. The department offers accommodation and services to remove barriers from the learning environment. They can provide one-on-one strategy sessions, exam accommodations, assistive technology, alternate format material, and/or contracted services.

With an abundance of beautiful lakes, boreal forests and an abundance of fauna and flora this park-like natural setting is an experience that leaves a lasting impression. A year-round outdoor playground, the variety of outdoor activities is as unique as each of our four seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. The Town is nestled along the southeast corner of Lac La Biche Lake and serves a population of more than 10,000 people in an area of roughly 7,000 square kilometers. With a population of roughly 2,700, the Town of Lac La Biche is one of the oldest communities in the Province of Alberta.

Lac La Biche is located at the intersection of highways 55 and 36, approximately 220 kms northeast of Edmonton. The Town is nestled along the southeast corner of Lac La Biche Lake, and serves a population more than 10,000 people in an area roughly 7,000 square kilometres. With a population of roughly 2,700, the Town of Lac La Biche is one of the oldest communities in the Province of Alberta.
