Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology was established in 1967 during the creation of the Ontarioís college system as part of the drive to form many institutions that allow students to get career-oriented certificate programs, diplomas, and continuing education programs. Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

The college has four campuses: Fennel Campus, Mohawk Brantford, Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Research, Resources and Training (STARRT) Institute, Mohawk-McMaster Institute for Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) at McMaster University in Hamilton. Fennel Campus is the largest campus, and includes the Engineering Technology, Science and Communications, Arts, Human Services, and Schools of Business. It is home to the gym facility that includes intramural volleyball courts and basketball courts, fitness areas with free weights, cardio equipment, and badminton courts.

The McIntyre Theatre is also here, which can seat 1040 people. Mohawk Brantford is home to Centre of Excellence in Public Safety and the Advanced Design and Packaging Technologies. STARRT Institute, formerly known as the Stoney Creek campus, has the largest trainer of apprentices in Ontario. IAHS has more than 2,000 full-time students, and is the first facility in Canada to combine college and health university sciences education and research in one. It has five library locations, one of which is an e-Library.

Student Services and Student Life

Some of Mohawk's services include: Studentsí Orientation, Campus Student Orientation, Student Cards, On Trak Student Handbook, Student Services and Success (Counselling Services, Disability Services, Dispute Resolution, Health Services, Human Rights, Peer Tutoring Services, Peer Mentoring Services, and Prior Learning Assessment), Student Life Facebook Group, Volunteering, Posting Boards, Campus Connection and Off Campus Housing.

The Mohawk Studentsí Association works to serve the needs of its full-time students. It also operates many business facilities in the Student Centre, which helps provide part-time jobs to students. They also help students who are in need of loans, in need of used textbooks, Health Insurance plans, financial assistance, auto insurance, or some advice on their residence, faculty member, or fax machines.

Students who want to become a part of the Varsity Team can choose from among these sports activities: Womenís Basketball, Menís Basketball, Badminton, Cross-Country, Curling, Womenís Fastball, Golf, Menís Rugby, Menís Soccer, Womenís Soccer, Menís Volleyball, and Womenís Volleyball. They can also take advantage of the Intramurals, Gymnasium, Residence Fitness Centre and the outdoor facilities of the campus.

Academic Programs

Mohawk has one and two year Ontario college diplomas, one year Ontario college graduate certificates, three-year Ontario college advanced diplomas, and four-year collaborative degree programs. It is recognized as a leader in engineering technology education, advertising, early childhood education, and insurance programs. Mohawk is also in partnership with McMaster University to offer collaborative degrees in medical radiation, nursing, technology and medical radiation sciences.

Hamilton Information

Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario, which boasts a current population of roughly 500,000. Traditionally, the local economy has been led by the steel and heavy manufacturing industries. Within the last decade, there has been a shift towards the service sector, particularly health and sciences.

Hamilton is located on the western end of the Niagara Peninsula and wraps around the westernmost part of Lake Ontario; most of the city, including the downtown section, is on the south shore. Hamilton is situated in the geographic centre of the Golden Horseshoe and is roughly the midway point between Toronto and Buffalo.
