Lethbridge College was established in 1957 as the first public community college in Canada. It was formerly known as Lethbridge Community College, and was changed to its present name in February 2007. Campus: Facilities, Residence and Location

Lethbridge has campuses in Taber, Fort Macleod, and Lethbridge. The College’s recreation facilities is a good channel for athletics and intramural programs, and it provides opportunities for high school and other community sports teams as well.

Its other facilities include the Bookstore (provides canteen items, textbooks, educationally priced software, stationery supplies, and Lethbridge College souvenirs); Computer Labs (Library Commons – Buchanan Library, Information Commons – Instructional Building); Food Services (the Food Court and the Cave offers diverse menu to students, with vending machines that has snacks, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, candy, chips, and etc.); Garden and Court Restaurant (open for selected lunches and evening dining); Residence (basic utilities are provided in the residence fees, with basic cable hook-up, and high-speed internet modem).

Student Services and Student Life

Lethbridge offers the following services: Academic AdvisingCareer Counselling, Chaplaincy Services, Counselling, Day Care Centre, Distributed Learning, The Learning Café, LC Online, Recruitment, Security Services, Services for International Students, Student Financial Aid and Awards Program, Student for a Day, Students with Disabilities, Testing Services, and The Works - Job, Career Services, and Aboriginal Services (A one-year FNMI Transition program for First Nations, Métis or Inuit students; high school upgrading, certificates, diplomas or the beginnings of future university degrees; small class sizes offering personalized instruction; an on-campus day care; learning skills workshops in the learning cafe; accessible computer labs across campus; library services; support for learners with disabilities; athletic programs, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross-country running, golf and curling; the works, an on-campus student employment centre; and cafeteria and food services).

Students who want to become a part of the varsity athletic program of the College must be enrolled as full-time students and are required to be in the Monday evening Study Hall program. Student-athletes have the privilege of participating in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for five years. Students can choose from Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer, or they can choose Women’s Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. Lethbridge also has an on-campus fitness resource centre (Be Fit For Life Centre) which offers programs and fitness services for students who want to have a healthy and fit lifestyle. Campus Recreation programs are also offered by the school.

Academic Programs

Lethbridge College has a wide variety of educational programs, including Justice Studies, Agriculture And The Environment, Design And Technology, Trades, Business And Management,Preparatory Studies, Health And Human Services, And University Transfer. The College also gives vocational training in more than 50 career avenues through One-Year Certificates, Two-Year Diplomas, Apprenticeships, Applied Degrees, and Pre-Employment Programs.

Lethbridge Information

Lethbridge is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada, and the largest city in southern Alberta. It is Alberta's fourth-largest city by population after Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer and the third-largest by area. Lethbridge's economy has traditionally been agriculture-based; however, it has diversified in recent years. Half of the workforce is employed in the health, education, retail and hospitality sectors, and the top five employers are government-based.

Lethbridge has a moderate continental climate with an average maximum temperature of 12.3 °C and an average minimum temperature of -1.0 °C. Mass transit in Lethbridge consists of 40 buses operating on more than a dozen routes, which includes some shuttle routes, such as University of Lethbridge to Lethbridge College, University of Lethbridge to the North Lethbridge terminal, and Lethbridge College to the North Lethbridge terminal.
