Sarnia Information

Sarnia is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is the largest city on Lake Huron and is located where the three upper Great Lakes empty into the St. Clair River. Sarnia has over one hundred well maintained parks, beautiful waterfront parkland, fifteen miles of all purpose trails, miles of sandy lakefront beaches, award winning floral displays, modern motels, fine restaurants, temperate climate safe environment and friendly people all add up to make your stay in Sarnia a wonderful experience.

While Sarnia is a relatively small city in population, there are well over one hundred square miles of land within our boundaries. With Lake Huron and its beautiful blue water to o ur north, the St. Clair River with its constant flow of commercial shipping to our west, world class industrial to our south and vast expanses of fertile farmland to our east, Sarnia encompasses an impressive array of mixed land uses within its boundaries.

The climate of Sarnia is considered a mild climate for Canadian standards. Winters are mild to cold and summers are warm to hot/humid. Lake Huron can create large temperature differences within the city in spring and early summer. The area enjoys a longer growing season than cities at similar latitudes, such as London, Ontario, Madison, Wisconsin or Lansing, Michigan due to the lake influence. The mild climate of Sarnia is one of the reasons that Sarnia has attracted retirees.
