Awarded to a student from Calgary entering first-year Nursing.
This scholarship was created by the Friends of UPEI Calgary who began an annual fundraising dinner and auction in 1998. Founder and chair Bill LeClair and a team of volunteers organize the event which is held each year on the first Saturday in November in Calgary.
This scholarship is awarded annually to a student from the Calgary area entering his/her first year of the UPEI Bachelor of Nursing program.
The recipient is determined by a special committee of the Friends of UPEI Calgary, which includes at least one UPEI representative. This committee
make sits recommendation to the UPEI Scholarship and Awards Committee.
The scholarship is granted based upon the completed application form and a personal statement indicating why he/she should be considered for the scholarship. In addition, applicants must have a minimum high school average of 80%.
The recipient must remain enrolled in full - time studies in the Nursing program (five courses per semester) at UPEI, and must maintain good academic standing with a minimum average of 80% in each year to be eligible for renewal. The scholarship is non-transferable and will not be awarded if no eligible candidate applies.
