The Benchperson Program teaches a student how to bench band saws, including the lining up of head rigs, grinding of band wheels and any other work usually performed by a Benchperson in the Lumber Manufacturing Industry. The Benchperson Program can usually be completed within 1 year. Approx. 4 weeks of the program consists of in-class teaching.
After graduation, the Benchperson will be expected to be qualified to run both a saw fitter and a circular saw filer. He/She will also be well versed in band saw mathematics and measurements and be able to maintain and align band saws.
