... professionalism, attitude, critical thinking, leadership and collaboration, and communication. Its motto is: Tenttanda Via Est (The way must be tried).
The campus is located in Victoria, British Columbia. Its second campus is in Vancouver. The average size of its classes never exceeds fifty students, and classes are divided into five or six student Learning Teams which allows the students to interact and work within a group. The environment also encourages face-to-face interaction and individual time with professors so there will be more chances for improvement in their academic studies.
The College offers career counseling and potential job opportunities to students. Each faculty also provides academic advising for students who are thinking of studying at UCAN. Computer services are also available, and students can use their laptops in class and between classes. The only exception is that the campus uses PC and Mac computers in its computer labs. MYUCAN is the course delivery and development platform and main communication tool for global function system and classrooms throughout UCAN. The advantage of MYUCAN is that students will be able to check and track their course histories and monitor their academic growth with the College’s “Unofficial Transcript Tool.” It is also a great communication tool that allows students to send and receive email and organize work schedules with the MyCalendar tool. Students can also connect with other students through the Global Chatroom, and they can have access to the Online Library Resources of the College.
Students have two options to finish their graduate and undergraduate degrees at the University Canada West. Those who plan to study on campus can attend their classes in Vancouver or Victoria, while students who find it inconvenient to go to the campuses can choose the flexible course schedules or distance learning (online studies) offered by UCAN. The College also offers business and arts and science bachelor degrees in addition to its MBA degrees.
Students are encouraged to look for housing accommodation outside the community before they arrive at Victoria and Vancouver. The housing rental market in both of these cities are very lucrative, and students are advised to arrange for more than one place to see, as the rentals in these areas are booked very quickly after they are advertised. Students can visit the University Canada West online housing database for a listing of local accommodations, and international students can choose the Homestay option available in some areas.
